What a wedding planner in Kerala charges
Most planner websites put the fee behind "contact us". Ours is a flat figure set by the scope of the wedding, and the band is printed here so you can decide whether the call is worth making.
How much does a wedding planner charge in Kerala?
The Kerala Wedding Collective charges a flat planning and design fee of ₹5–25 lakh+, fixed by scope after the first call and stated in writing before any work starts. It is never a percentage of your budget and there is no markup on any vendor: you contract and pay the venue, the caterer and every other supplier directly, against quotes you have seen. Wedding planners in Kerala bill on three models — a flat scope-based fee, a percentage of the total wedding cost, or a per-event coordination charge — and the model changes the incentive as much as the number, because a percentage fee rises with every line the planner is meant to be negotiating down. What sets the figure inside the band is scope: how many events across how many days, how many guests and from how many countries, how much of the decor is designed and built rather than hired, and whether the venue is a hotel with its own kitchen or a hall where everything is brought in.
Why flat rather than a percentage
A percentage fee pays the planner more every time your wedding costs more, which means every negotiation they run on your behalf cuts their own income. We would rather the incentive pointed the other way. On a flat fee, the minimum guarantee we argue down at a hotel, the shortfall clause we get written properly, and the room block sized to the guest list who will actually stay all save you money and cost us nothing. That is the only arrangement in which a planner's advice about your budget is worth listening to.
What moves the figure inside the band
- Events and days. A single-morning muhurtham and lunch is not the same job as four functions across three days with a mehendi, a reception in another town and a Sunday brunch.
- Guests, and where they come from. Two hundred local guests are lighter work than a hundred and twenty arriving from four countries into three airports.
- How much is designed and built. A wedding dressed from a rental catalogue and a wedding drawn to scale and fabricated for you are different amounts of work, and the design fee reflects it.
- The venue's model. A hotel with its own kitchen, banquet team and rooms carries a lot of the operation itself. An auditorium or a backwater property where the kitchen, the crew, the furniture and sometimes the power all arrive on trucks does not.
A two-event wedding of about a hundred guests at a hotel sits at the lower end of ₹5–25 lakh+. A multi-day wedding with a full build, several hundred guests and families arriving from three time zones sits at the upper end, and above it.
What the fee covers
- The venue shortlist from our own book, walked on video and then in person on your single trip.
- Negotiating the venue contract: the minimum guarantee per space and the shortfall, the day rate, the outside-vendor policy, the build window, the room block and its release date.
- The design, drawn before it is priced — plans, elevations, the lighting plan, the flowers.
- Vendor contracting at cost, with every quote visible to you in the portal before you sign it.
- Guest logistics: arrival waves, room blocks, transfers, and the wedding-week schedule.
- Running the wedding: our own team on site for every function, including the overnight build before an early muhurtham.
What it does not cover
- The venue itself: the hall, the rooms and the food, paid to the property on its own contract. The per-plate ranges are published here, 34 venues of them.
- The physical build: materials, fabrication and crew for what we design, quoted line by line before anything is made.
- The caterer, where the venue allows an outside kitchen, contracted by you directly.
- Photography, film, outfits, flights, hair and make-up — your own contracts, introduced where you want them, never marked up.
- Licence and permission fees, and the registration of the marriage afterwards, which is cheap and has its own clock.
How it is paid
In stages against a written schedule you approve before anything is booked, through the couple portal. Vendor advances in Kerala are handled by us on the ground and shown to you line by line, which for a family abroad means no wiring money to people you have never met. The fee is quoted in rupees.
The first call costs nothing
Thirty minutes: the month, the guest count, the community the wedding follows, where everyone is flying from, and the things the family will not compromise on. Within one working day you get a written scope and a fee figure inside the band. If we are not the right studio for your wedding you keep the venue shortlist and owe us nothing.

What is the average wedding planner fee in Kerala?
We do not publish an average for other people's businesses, because the number would be invented. What we can state is our own: a flat, scope-based planning and design fee of ₹5–25 lakh+, agreed in writing before work starts. When you compare quotes, compare the model first — flat fee, percentage of budget, or per-event coordination — because the same headline figure means different things under each.
Is the planner fee a percentage of the wedding budget?
Not ours. It is a flat figure fixed by scope. A percentage fee grows with every cost the planner is supposed to be negotiating down, which puts the wrong incentive in the room. If you are quoted a percentage elsewhere, ask what happens to the fee when the budget rises, and get the answer in writing.
Do you take commission from venues or caterers?
No commission and no markup. You contract and pay venues and vendors directly, on quotes you have seen in your portal first. If a vendor offered us a commission we would decline it and tell you.
Does the fee include the decor?
It includes the design — the drawings, the plans, the lighting plan. The physical build, meaning materials, fabrication and crew, is quoted separately and line by line before anything is made, so you can see exactly what the set costs and change it before it is built.
What is the minimum wedding size you take on?
There is no headcount floor. The fee band starts at ₹5 lakh and the scope is agreed at the first call, so a small ceremony with a serious design brief and a large wedding with a simple one can land at similar figures. If the wedding genuinely does not need a planner, we will say that on the call.
When do you need to be booked by?
For a Makaram or Vrischikam date, a year out is normal, because the halls and the better cooks are gone by then. For a monsoon-month wedding there is more room. The sequence and the deadlines are in the twelve-month checklist.
