The shape of the day is close to a Nair wedding: a muhurtham fixed by the astrologer, a brief ceremony, and a sadya afterwards that does most of the work. Guest counts tend to run larger, and that is the number that drives the venue choice more than anything aesthetic.
Auditoriums remain the default for good reason. Four hundred people eating off leaves at nine in the morning is a specific operation, and the halls are built for it. Where families want something with a view, the usual compromise is to keep the ceremony local and hold an evening reception at a resort.
If the guest list is over three hundred, filter venues by capacity before you fall in love with any of them. Several of the best-looking properties in the state top out well below that, and the backwater resorts in particular are small.
