How is a Kerala Christian wedding different from a Hindu one?
The church service is in the morning and the reception follows in the middle of the same day, with the date constrained by Lent and the Nombu before Christmas rather than by a muhurtham. The meal is non-vegetarian, where a Hindu Kerala wedding serves a vegetarian sadya. A Hindu ceremony time is set by an astrologer and can fall before sunrise, which a church wedding never does.
Which Kerala wedding has the shortest ceremony?
A Nair wedding. The core rite frequently finishes inside half an hour. A Kerala Brahmin ceremony sits at the other end, running for several hours and sometimes across two mornings, which is why it needs a venue that permits a sustained fire ritual.
