June to September moves everything indoors, which reads as a warning until you see what it selects for: the venues with genuine indoor scale carry a monsoon wedding beautifully, and the rain itself is the most cinematic thing this state does. December to February is the safe, expensive answer; the shoulder months are the value play.

The honest answer: differently. Hotel kitchens plate a refined sadya; the specialist caterers serve the one your grandmother will grade. Where the venue permits outside catering, that decision is yours to make; where it doesn't, taste the sadya before you sign — not at the same sitting as the continental menu.

Inventory. The state's icons run 26 to 72 keys — boutique by national standards — and a full-buyout wedding takes every room. December-to-February dates at the small heritage resorts go 9–12 months out. The city hotels hold availability longer; the backwater boutiques do not.

Kochi's CIAL feeds the backwaters and the city hotels; Trivandrum serves the Kovalam–Varkala cliff corridor with one of the shortest airport-to-venue runs in Indian destination weddings.
