Everyone arrives up a ghat road
Wayanad sits on the plateau in the north-east, above the Malabar coast, and every guest reaches it by climbing. Kannur and Kozhikode are the practical airports and both leave a long road transfer at the end, so arrivals belong on the day before the wedding rather than the morning of it — particularly with an early muhurtham. In exchange you get forest and coffee-estate settings, air that is cool in the evening without being cold, and properties that are used to taking a whole wedding party rather than sharing the week with other guests.
