A reserve town, and it behaves like one
Kumily and Thekkady sit at the edge of the Periyar reserve on the Tamil Nadu border, and the wedding properties are spice-garden resorts rather than banquet halls. Room stock is spread across several of them instead of concentrated in one, so the first question on any Thekkady wedding is how many guests sleep where and how far apart those places are. Evenings are cool at this altitude, which does more for an outdoor dinner here than anywhere on the coast.

They suit guest lists in the low hundreds rather than the thousands: room stock is spread across properties instead of concentrated, and everything from flowers to extra kitchen staff travels up from the plains. 1 of the 7 have published a per-plate catering range to us.
The other hill options are Munnar, three or four hours away over the same kind of road, and Wayanad in the north.
